This historic station was built in 1886 by the California Southern Railway, predecessor to the Santa Fe Railway, which built the original transcontinental link between San Diego and the East through Perris. Perris, laid out in 1886, derived its name from Fred T. Perris, Chief Engineer for the California Southern Railway. Perris is the home of the Orange Empire Trolley Museum, and its collection of over 50 pieces of historic electric railway equipment.
